ISO 31000 provides comprehensive principles and guidelines for Risk Management. Although all organizations manage risks in some way, the best practice recommendations of this international standard have been developed to improve management techniques and ensure safety in the workplace at all times.

 

The standard is not intended for certification purposes. However, it can be used as a basis for risk assessment according to requirements of ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015, ISO 45001: 2018 etc.

In February 2018, the new version of ISO 31000 was published by ISO and in March 2018 by ABNT.

 

The main purpose of the revision of the standard was to make it simpler and clearer. The new content was condensed, but with special care in revising to maintain the main structure and concepts, in order to have the minimum impact on organizations that already adopt ISO 31000 as a reference.
